Beautiful piece - I especially love the surprise of the opening and this: "I want to be seen. / Seen like the first blooms of spring bravely / entering the next phase of an uncertain future." Oof. May we all have the bravery we need to enter this uncertain future.

Thank you. I miss being in the creative writing group and our nourishing talks. I’m currently working on the bottom level of the hierarchy of needs, but hope that can change sometime.❤️

I love the turn this poem takes a the end, Sue Ann. It's such a treat to be surprised like that. I just finished reading Richard Powers's The Overstory, so I came to your poem with my head filled with botanical descriptions and energy.
